How long should a resume be?
The honest answer depends on how much you have done and where you are applying. Here are the actual conventions, rather than the one-page rule people repeat without checking.

Why the one-page rule persists
It came from a real observation: recruiters skim, and a tight document reads better than a padded one. It then hardened into a rule that makes experienced people delete relevant work in order to hit an arbitrary target. That is the wrong trade.
The useful version of the rule is: every line should earn its place. If it does, two pages is fine. If it does not, one page is still too long.
What to cut first
- Jobs from more than 15 years ago, unless they are unusually relevant. A single line under "Earlier career" covers them.
- Duties that any holder of the job would have. "Responsible for answering customer queries" tells a reader nothing they did not already assume.
- The objective statement. "Seeking a challenging role in a dynamic organisation" is filler. A summary of what you actually do is worth the space; a statement of what you want is not.
- References available on request. Everyone knows.
- Skill rating bars. They take a lot of room to communicate a number you assigned yourself.
- Your full postal address. City and country is enough, and safer.
Country conventions
In the UK, US, Canada and Australia, one to two pages is standard and photos are not expected. In much of continental Europe, a photo and date of birth are still common, though this is fading. In India, two pages is normal and a short personal details block is expected. In Germany, a longer, more formal document with a signature is still usual in some sectors.
When applying abroad, follow the destination country's convention rather than your own.
If you are one line over
Do not shrink the font to 9pt or squeeze the margins to nothing. A cramped page reads as desperate. Cut a weak bullet instead, or tighten wording — most bullets lose four or five words with no loss of meaning.

Is a two-page resume acceptable for a graduate?
Usually not. With little work history, a second page tends to be filled with padding, and that is visible. Keep it to one page and make it dense with real content.
Does the page count affect ATS parsing?
No. Parsers do not care about page breaks. Length is purely about the human reading it.
Should I use a smaller font to fit one page?
Not below about 10.5pt for body text. If it only fits at 9pt, you have too much content, not a font problem.
