Keep a master and tailor a copy per application, rather than overwriting your only résumé.
Every layout keeps real text headings a parser can read — no images, icons or tables of content. The plainest, single-column options score highest for ATS reliability; sidebar, two-column and decorative styles trade a little of that safety for a look that stands out to a human reader, so check the ATS score badge before picking one for a large-company application. The Designed group are full visual layouts — they print beautifully, and you save them as PDF through your browser's print dialog.
Stick to common system fonts. Unusual typefaces can render as blank boxes when a parser opens the PDF.
Black prints most reliably. Colour is safe for headings but keep body text dark.
